Winter Woods Spectacular Works to Spread Light and Holiday Cheer

By Raegan Franklin

Friday marked the start of this year’s Winter Woods Spectacular at Iroquois Park. The event will take place nightly from 6 to 10 p.m and end on Jan. 1.

Winter Woods Spectacular is a fundraising event for the Parks Alliance of Louisville, a nonprofit organization working to benefit the community by improving Louisville’s public parks.

Brooke Pardue, president and CEO of Parks Alliance of Louisville, said that guests “can feel good about the fact that they’re having a great experience but they’re also giving back to the community,”

Bellarmine senior Logan Funderburg said Winter Woods Spectacular was a great way for the community to come together and create something beautiful.

Winter Woods Spectacular is brought to life by Hey Bob Productions, the same corporation that produces the annual Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular.

Unlike previous years as a drive-thru show, this year’s event is a self-paced 0.3 mile walk-thru experience. Pardue said the trail takes between 35 to 45 minutes to complete.

Bellarmine junior Abigail Luttrell said Winter Woods Spectacular brightened her spirits.

“It was a great way to get out of the house and get away from studying for the finals that are coming up,” she said.

The trail features a variety of scenes centered around a winter wonderland theme.

“Winter Woods Spectacular is an all-inclusive event. No matter how you celebrate, we have created something you will enjoy,” Pardue said.

Tickets can be purchased on https://www.winterwoodsspectacular.org or at the event. Tickets are non-refundable but may be exchanged for a different night. The prices for Winter Woods Spectacular are:

Adult General Admission: $15

Senior General Admission: $12

Child General Admission: $10
