Get dressed up, enjoy a night on the Belle of Louisville, and solve a murder.
Students can join the Bellarmine Activities Council (BAC) on Oct. 28 for Ball on the Belle, the annual costume party filled with games, dancing and snacks. This year's theme is murder mystery.
Several suspects for this murder mystery will be introduced on the BAC Instagram (@bacatbu) the week of the event. Each suspect will have a story line and mugshot. Students can use hints hidden on the Belle of Louisville to solve the mystery and submit their guesses for a chance to win a mystery prize.
Students looking for costume inspiration can check out the BAC Instagram for ideas. A costume contest will award five different trophies based on categories that will be announced in the days leading up to the event.
The Ball on the Belle is a Bellarmine tradition that bonds students and increases connections. “I think it benefits the community because it brings students together in such a fun and safe setting. It’s a classic Bellarmine tradition,” junior Katherine Barr said.
For students looking to relieve stress after midterms, Ball on the Belle is the perfect way to get off campus and meet new people. “It’s a good way to hang out with friends and get out of the room,” senior Alex Woosley said. “It’s also around the time midterms were over, so it was a good stress reliever.”
BAC president Liv Jones said she encourages students to attend the event because it is a unique experience.
“I would recommend students go because it’s a fun time and we actually go out on the Ohio River,” Jones said. “You get to dress up to the theme, have fun with friends, and now that Covid has relaxed a bit, you can bring a non-Bellarmine guest as well.”
Students can purchase tickets through the link provided on the BAC Instagram. Student tickets cost $7 apiece and guest tickets are $10 apiece. Popcorn and soda are included in the ticket price, and there will be a cash bar for those age 21 and over. Tickets will be sold at the door while supplies last, and the maximum number of people allowed on the boat is 470. Buying tickets in advance guarantees admission.
