LOUISVILLE, KY. — The Bellarmine wrestling team engraved their names in the Knights' history books on Jan. 28, at Knights Hall when they secured a 17-15 victory against Gardner-Webb University and extended their undefeated streak to 12-0. The Knights also equaled the program's record from the last season when Bellarmine finished 12-4.
Thad Huff, a heavyweight (285 weight class) sophomore, won his match, breaking a tie by winning a 5-4 fall.
“I love being in the position that the team has to be on my back and I have to get them across that finish line,” he said.
Head coach Ned Shuck said: "They unite seamlessly, genuinely care for one another and provide mutual support. It's an enjoyable dynamic. Spending each day with these guys during training is a true blessing for me."
Shuck said the team is committed to personal and collective growth."We're doing it to be the best us we can be and the best men we can be. Hopefully, the history books will highlight how close this team is and how great these men are,” he said.
Keenan Wyatt, a red-shirt freshman and Bellarmine's athlete of the week said, "I'm proud of my team, and I can't wait for the next match.”
