Empowering Melodies: Women's Voices Take Center Stage in This Spring's Albums

By Sierra Willis

Spring isn’t necessarily known as a big time for new album releases — but it will be in 2024.

Infamous child-star Arianna Grande released her first album in four years. “Eternal Sunshine” was released on March 8.

Grande already released the album’s lead single, “Yes, And?” The song debuted at No. I on Spotify's Global Chart, making it her biggest Spotify debut.

Grande announced the album, which she had teased weeks prior on social media, on Dec. 27.

It’s been over two years since Kacey Musgraves released her fifth studio album, “Star Crossed.” Her LP released on March 15 and is titled “Deeper Well.”

The Grammy-winning artist debuted in 2013 with “Same Trailer Different Park,” which won a Grammy for Best Country Album. From there, her fan base has grown.

Musgraves originally teased the album at the 66th Grammy Awards. Revealing the cover art and release date on her Instagram less than a week prior. The track list includes 14 brand-new songs.

“My new album, ‘Deeper Well,’ is arriving March 15th,” Musgraves wrote in an Instagram post. “It’s a collection of songs I hold very dear to my heart. I hope it makes a home in all of your hearts, too.”

Senior Lily Gootee said she relates to Musgraves' music and hopes it can inspire others like she did for her.

“As a young mom, I’ve gone through a lot of changes in my life,” Gootee said. “I’m trying to find myself as a mom again and I can relate to the changes that Kacey talks about through this album.”

One of the major triumphs on Super Bowl Sunday wasn't claimed by a football team in 2024.

During a Verizon commercial aired during the game, Beyoncé unveiled fresh singles "Texas Hold ’Em" and "16 Carriages."

Leading to the launch of Act II, the second segment, “Cowboy Carter” which is part of her Renaissance album trilogy.

The album was released on March 29.

Meanwhile, her “Renaissance” world tour was 2023’s top-grossing trek, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore.

According to Billboard, “Across a six-week span, a coterie of music’s A-listers will deliver new — and highly anticipated — albums.”

Junior Christina Smith said she has been a long-time fan of Beyoncé for many years and she is enjoying her favorite artist's latest work.

“I’ve listened to Beyoncé since I was a little girl and this album has been another masterpiece for her,” Smith said. “I’m really enjoying how she is making the latest albums a part of a trilogy because it gives us a story and something to look forward to, too.”

Grammy award-winning artist Taylor Swift broke the internet when she announced her world tour, “The Eras Tour.” The tour had the highest ticket sales Ticketmaster has ever seen.

She is set to release her thirteenth studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” on April 19. She announced the album at the Grammy awards after winning her 13th Grammy. She posted the album cover and began pre-sales for the album after exiting the stage.

Personally, this is the album I am most excited for this Spring. I’ve been following Swift for most of my life. Through four studio re-recordings and new albums, Swift has been keeping up in the industry.

For “The Tortured Poets Department,” I estimate it’ll be a mix of ‘Red’ and ‘Reputation.’ I only estimate this due to the cover art and some rumors that have been circulating on Twitter.

Through this newest album, I estimate it will be the most emotional album Swift has produced due to her break-up with Joe Alwyn. This is just an estimation, no one really knows any knowledge of what this album will sound like due to Swift being very quiet about her recent work.

Overall, the album is going to be something we have never experienced before, and the Swiftie community is ready for the new era to begin and for this album to shine.
