For students who are unsure of what type of career they want to go into after graduation, attending a career fair is a great way to get their resumes in the hands of the representatives of the companies that are hiring.
Jonah Segree, a senior communications major who attended the spring career fair Thursday, said he found the perfect job opportunity there.
“While I was there, I found the perfect fit; the Louisville Slugger Museum,” Segree said. “They are hiring printing people to run the laser engravings on the bats. I could not have imagined something more perfect for what kind of work I want when I graduate.”
Lauren Coffey, the assistant director of Career Development, said networking is important.
“Nationally, 70% of jobs are found through networking. It plays a vital role in helping our students discover internships and jobs,” Coffey said. “We host events like the spring career fair on campus regularly to ensure that students have access to the career paths they want to pursue.”
George Davis worked a booth at the fair for Soccer Holdings and said it is very important for his company to connect with Bellarmine students.
“We are looking to make connections and identify with the young talent at Bellarmine,” Davis said. “We know what a good university this is and how important it is to connect with young adults in our community, and this is a great opportunity to do that.
Nicholas Freibert, a senior communications major, said he appreciated the opportunity to attend the career fair.
“They do this because it helps students become future men or women so they can be successful in their jobs,” Freibert said. "They do a great job preparing students for careers and internships which is a great thing. I think it’s one of the great distinct things about Bellarmine.”
