Family Weekend 2022 at Bellarmine is an event-filled three days where students can reunite with loved ones and show them their college lifestyle from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.
Students and families may participate in having brunch with Dr. Susan Donovan, the silent disco, and yoga. Many students aren't from the Louisville, Kentucky, area, making it challenging to find time for a trip home, which is why this weekend helps bring families to students.
Junior Erin McCabe, a radiation therapy major, said she took photos of last year's Family Weekend activities and developed a new appreciation for the event. "Experiencing family weekend from an outsider's point of view allowed me to think about how well thought of the events and the timeliness and the extra effort that was made to include everyone's different likings," McCabe said.
Sophomore Ella Lucas said she was able to experience Family Weekend for the first time last year and looks forward to this year's weekend. "Parents' weekend is one of my favorite times here at Bellarmine. It's a great opportunity to recharge from school, and being away from home can be really anxiety-inducing, and being around people that I love, like my family, really helps me out," Lucas said.
Timothy DaPore, a senior soccer player, is from the Louisville area but said he never declines an opportunity for family time. "Last year, we had brunch with a couple of our teammates, and it was a lot of fun because my parents got to meet their parents, and it was just a great time all around," DaPore said.
"This coming up family weekend is going to be my last family weekend, so it's going to be fun to bring the family around with me and kind of celebrate the four years I've had at Bellarmine, and it's going to be a good farewell," he said.
